Michael Matamoros - Athletic Director, K-8th Physical Education

I joined Santa Clara in 2011 after working part -time for one year at Bishop Dunne. I graduated from The University of The Incarnate Word with a Bachelor's degree in Science in Physical education. I  am the Middle School Athletic Director, Physical Education department chair, Head coach of boys’ and girls' Cross Country, Head coach of boys’ and girls' Soccer, Assistant Head Men's Soccer coach at Bishop Dunne High School and most recently an Volunteer Coach for Arsenal FC. I have received my U.S. Soccer National E and F coaching licences and I am pursuing other U.S. National Soccer Licenses. During my tenure the Athletic Department has started a yearly Santa Clara 5k race that encourages students and family from our community to come out and be physically active and support Santa Clara Athletics. I, along with my brother, helped in creating Santa Clara's new School and Athletic logo's. Thanks to the many sacrifices from my family, my brothers and I are products of the catholic school system. I am an alumni of St. Elizabeth Catholic School (1996) and Bishop Dunne High School (Class of 2000). During my time at Bishop Dunne I was an All-District Cross Country Runner (1998,1999), a State Champion Runner (1999), a three year Soccer/Cross-Country Letterman ('97 - '00), a two year Varsity Baseball Letterman ('98-00), a Track Letterman (2000) and involved with Musical Theater and Choir. I went on to play in soccer clubs at the University of the Incarnate Word.  Whenever I have some time away from coaching, I enjoy spending time with my family and my baby niece. I look forward to another EXCITING YEAR here at Santa Clara and look forward to continuing the mission and encouraging our future leaders.
