Volunteer Requirements and Campus Safety

To ensure a safe and Christ-centered environment for all students, the following requirements apply to all volunteers and visitors:

• All volunteers must be Safe Environment trained and have an up-to-date background check on file in accordance with the Diocese of Dallas Safe Environment policies.
• No individual may volunteer or assist students in any capacity until Safe Environment clearance is complete.
• Volunteers must check in at the front office upon arrival, regardless of the activity or time of day.
• A valid photo ID is required at check-in.
• All visitors will sign in and receive a visitor badge, which must be worn at all times while on campus.
• Entry to the building is secured; all visitors must enter and exit through the main school office only.
• After school hours, access to classrooms or student areas must be arranged through the school office.
• Weapons are strictly prohibited on school grounds.

These procedures are in place to ensure the safety and well-being of all students and staff and reflect our commitment to maintaining a secure school environment.

Volunteer Commitment and Service Hours

At Santa Clara of Assisi Catholic Academy, families are actively invited to participate in the life of the school through service.

Each family is expected to complete 30 volunteer hours per school year (15 hours per semester). While we strongly encourage families to fulfill their hours in-person service, a portion of hours may be offset by a $10 per hour contribution for up to 10 hours per semester. Please note that at least 5 hours per semester must be completed through in-person service and cannot be substituted.

Billing for unmet fall hours is due December 23, and billing for spring hours is due May 19.

Ways to Serve

Volunteers are an essential part of our school community. Families can help earn hours in many ways, including:

• Serving as room parents
• Assisting with campus gardens, landscaping, and beautification
• Supporting maintenance and improvement projects
• Preparing classroom materials (cutting, laminating, organizing)
• Assisting teachers in classrooms as needed
• Helping with Sunday kitchens and fundraising events
• Promoting the academy after Mass at local parishes
• Participating in Home and School Association meetings and events
• Attending parent education nights
• Coaching student sports teams
• Leading or supporting after-school clubs and activities
• And many other creative ways to serve our community

We encourage families to take initiative and share their gifts in ways that strengthen our school.
