Before a single brick was laid, Bishop Grahmann asked West Oak Cliff what it needed. Families answered: a Catholic school. Three decades later, that answer still shapes every classroom on this campus.

Santa Clara Parish was established on February 14, 1993, when Bishop Charles V. Grahmann and the Presbyteral Council voted to divide the growing St. Cecilia Parish in West Oak Cliff. Before the decision was made, Bishop Grahmann conducted a year-long survey of the area's needs.
Families cited many needs, including housing and jobs, but their strongest request was for a Catholic school — a safe environment where their children could receive both a rigorous education and the Sacraments.
Santa Clara Catholic School opened that fall, initially serving grades 6 through 8 to reach students at a critical point in their education. The campus, designed by Vidaud and Associates, includes 17 classrooms, a computer lab, a science lab, and a library, with part of the church serving as the school cafeteria.

More than three decades later, that same vision continues to guide Santa Clara. What began as a school for grades 6 through 8 has grown into a full Pre-K3 through 8th grade academy, serving 120 students and their families.
The need Bishop Grahmann identified in his original survey — a safe, faith-centered education for the children of West Oak Cliff — remains just as present today. Santa Clara remains the answer families count on.
